Helped out in the Sports department this morning to sort out the numerous hopeful entries that participated in the "Guess the Top 4 Football Teams" contest. 95% of our readers expected Brazil to enter the semis. Surprisingly they didn't and I threw away a lot a lot of envelopes.
Some readers sent in a few entries with permutations, but unfortunately their ideal top four teams included either Brazil, England or Argentina.
When I first started out sorting, the chiefy editor joked, "Just watch out for the word "Brazil"." Even though many cannot accept the fact, but yes, Brazil has been shockingly eliminated in this World Cup.
In our world today, expect the unexpected. And, believe it or not, luck certainly plays a part in determining outcomes. Sometimes, those with potential and actual strength don't really emerge as winners.
