ever since school started, i rarely use chinese in the every day interaction with my friends. this frightens me cos i might just subconsciously lose touch with this language, something that i'm deeply in love with.

yes, i agree that english, as a language, dominates the worldwide communication and has larger economic effects as compared to mother tongue languages. But imagine how scary and disappointing it is to be a person who is a stranger to his or her mother tongue language.
