first hated song
music none
i cannot take it. i wanna bitch.
i've never hated a song to the core. so that particular song has the privilege of being my first detested ballad.
it's in chinese, sang by 2 malaysian singers of opposite sex, and is my assigned song with yiwei for qiangmai.
i won't reveal this song. jus wanna list down the 3 reasons for disliking it:
1. lousy and shallow lyrics.
it's probably about a lady being hurt by her boyfriend whom she loves very much. so she went to this other guy, who's interested in her but can only take the role of her guardian angel.
she hugged him and sobbed out her grievances, about how guilty she feels everytime when she only turn to her guardian angel when she needed him; about herself thinking of her boyfriend while her guardian angel comforted her; about her being aware of her guardian angel's virtues that her boyfriend lack.. but in the end, she still loves her boyfriend.. what crap.
i'm a rational person.. those mentioned above seem childish to me. i believe the existence of chemistry, but if the lady thinks her guardian angel is better off, just make a decision and move on with it!!
i cannot identify with the lady, i dislike her taking her guardian angel's advantage, so i don't like to sing the female's part. but no choice.
2. weird melody that isn't pleasing to the ears.
this melody is composed in a creative way such that the female and the male can sing simultaneously and interchangably at times. overlapping of both singers' voices is an obvious charateristic.
but it's too high pitched; a lot of falsetto that is, maybe, unneccessarily needed to set off the feelings of the lyrics. falsettos make rendition even more difficult.
yiwei joked that we were singing like chickens all the way, not cos we dunno how to sing, but cos of the nature of the melody.
3. not suitable for my vocal.
it's a known fact that not every singer can sing every song. you probably won't hear a-mei sing cyndi wang's songs, much less chances will you get to listen to stefanie sun belting out rainie yang numbers. same applies to contestants in singing competitions. and that's why you always hear judges telling the contestants: you should've chosen a song that is suitable for you.
but this song is an assigned song. the good point is, it allows us to present the other side of ourselves to the judges, but the bad point overrules: shows more flaws and incapability..
yes, it is possible to master this song well, but it's just not my style.
nevertheless, i wanna thank the person who chose this song for us. cos it makes me realise what kind of songs i shall avoid singing in future.
and i'm aware that every piece of composition is the composers' hard work, so i ought to respect them.
