Singapore girl group?
music fall in love [4 in Love/fall in love]
I have to admit that I lead an "ill-fated" life. I woke up this early even when I've the chance to wake up naturally. What's most frustrating is that whenever I wished to sleep more I was given very little time to rest. What lah, is it fate that's fooling me?!
Anyways. Decided to keep up my intimate friendship with my dearest computer. Haven't been touching it for few days cos' of prelims. I've got all the time in the world now to blog. *smirks*
Finally get to return to the arms of cpop. Surfed a chinese music website and saw "倔強天使" 楊丞琳's album 《暧昧》. I was amazed by her courage to feign madness and act like an idiot when she was requested to on 100% Entertainment yesterday. She's always been giving me the kind of cool and serious character when she hosted Guess Guess Guess. Never did I thought that she can be this natural and unrestrained as well. I like those female artistes (小S, S.h.e, 丞琳) who are pretty and yet humorous and unconstrained when the situation calls for it. They don't seem to have a desire to keep up their perfect image. Yeah, that's what I advocate.. The entertainment circle is a reality too.. What's the point of being "fairy-like" on the screen but otherwise in one's private life? Think that should be very difficult to act.
I looked up on her previous works in the music area. 丞琳 was once a member of a four-girl group "4 in love". Their songs are sweet and sunny, somewhat similar to S.h.e. Unfortuantely the market was not very responsive to this idol-like group and I think that was the reason they disbanded.
Happened to listen to their "Fall in Love".. very catchy! And sounds very Japanese.. it reminded me of our disbanded Singapore three-girl group Mirai. Though it was clear that they didn't use their looks to enter the music scene, their songs reflected the thoughts of teenage girls and their vocals were laudable, I lost track of their trace right after their first album, "Mirai". It was till last year I realised that one of the girls went to Japan and released her debut Bossa Nova album. Oh yeah, those girls were fifteen/sixteen year-olds back then.
There're quite a number of girl groups in Taiwan at the moment, with the most popular S.h.e leading ahead. But there's no successful ones from Singapore (2R were Malaysian born; one-fifth released an album and disappeared). When would record labels consider grooming our very own girl and boy group? We've got renowed individual female and male singers, Tany, Stefanie, JJ Lin, A-do, etc. It's now time for homegrown idol groups to impact the music scene. I don't believe that we don't have enough local talents. ;)
[Wondered what is it like to be in a singing group that perform, dance and face the media together everyday. Perhaps a life-long close friendship will be the best gift in return. =) ]
